Welcome to the Department of English
The Department of English offers Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in literature and linguistics. These programs prepare graduates to excel in the English language (speaking and writing), to respond creatively and intelligently to great works of literature, and to have a global perspective. Courses taught range across the major genres of literature and literary periods and include those devoted specifically to language, which include the grammatical, phonological, and conversational. There is a special Master of Arts program offered in conjunction with the Graduate School of Education, designed to integrate literature and writing with advanced teaching methods.
